AN ENTHUSIASTIC audience gathered at Haslemere Museum to hear a talk by Philip Jackson on The Changing Face of Beauty.

The talk was linked to the British Museum Spotlight Loan exhibition, Troy: Beauty and Heroism, which is on show until May 7.

Philip is a renowned international sculptor and a patron of Haslemere Museum.

His works include Bomber Command in Green Park and the statue of Bobby Moore outside Wembley Stadium.

He is currently working on the 999 Cenotaph which celebrates the NHS and emergency services workers.

As part of his talk, Philip shared a glittering array of pictures depicting beauty from ancient Egyptian times to the present day, and how as times change the perception of beauty does as well.

It was noted, however, that often styles and fashion recur through the ages.

Haslemere town councillor Melanie Odell – who is also the chairman of the museum – thanked Philip for a most interesting talk, having previously asked everyone for a short time of contemplation for the people of Ukraine.
