TWO historic wartime structures at Dunsfold Aerodrome have just been given grade II listings in a move that required an amendment to the outline planning application for 1,800 new homes at the airfield.
The scheme for a new settlement was agreed by Waverley Borough Council but was called in by Communities Secretary Sajid Javid and is due to be determined, following the public inquiry in September, before January 17.
A Waverley spokesman said: “The applicant prepared and submitted further information to the Secretary of State as two of the buildings have been designated as grade II listed buildings,
“They are the Royal Observer Corps monitoring post and the 1942 Memorial stone commemorating the construction of Dunsfold Airfield.
“Anybody is welcome to make comments directly to the planning casework unit.”
A supporting document provided by Dunsfold Park, concluded the designations would not affect the application and both sites would be preserved and publicly accessible under the scheme.
•Dunsfold Parish Council announced this week it has decided to produce a neighbourhood plan.
A steering group of volunteers has been set up to work alongside the parish council to prepare and identify sites potentially suitable for housing, commercial, leisure and community development.
The group is now inviting villagers to suggest where these developments might be placed, whether or not they are the landowners, by completing a form now available online
Hard copies are available by request by emailing [email protected] or by calling (01483) 200980.
