WAVERLEY police constable Chris West, who grew up in Haslemere and now lives in Liphook, has completed his charity bike ride in memory of his son Oliver.

Oliver died just before he was born on March 16, 2018.

Chris cycled from the Royal Surrey County Hospital to St Thomas’ Hospital, before finishing at Midhurst’s Carron Lane Cemetery, where Oliver was laid to rest.

Chris’s bike was stolen from his shed on the eve of the ride, but a fundraiser got him a new bike.

"I picked up the new bike the day before the ride," said Chris.

"I was cycling for seven-and-a-half hours, but took nine hours in total including breaks. I was inspired by all the donations."

Chris’s charity ride has raised nearly £2,300 for the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
