BUILDING 50 new homes on Haslemere's High Street car park and 31 at the "youth campus" at Wey Hill are just some of the possible sites detailed in Waverley's Local Plan public consultation on where to locate up to 470 new homes a year. The borough council has already warned it is required to build more than double the number of new homes previously planned in order to meet government targets. Residents can now see exactly where Waverley might put them in its updated Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment published online. The National Planning Policy Framework requires councils to demonstrate a five-year land supply for housing in an attempt to boost house building.
