THE biggest piece of artwork ever produced in Haslemere was unveiled by the town's new mayor on Tuesday.

Students from Woolmer Hill, Liphook's Bohunt and Milford's Rodborough schools – together with youngsters from the Wey Centre, in Wey Hill – joined forces to paint their very own diamond jubilee tribute.

Their mural panels covering the hoarding for the old Clements site between Haslemere and Wey Hill measure 170ft in total and were inspired by landmark events of the last 60 years in both the town and the surrounding villages.

Jubilee committee member Ken Griffiths said: "It's absolutely fantastic. There are some really talented artists involved and they have done us proud."

The panels were painted at the schools and the Wey Centre before being hung over the hoardings.
