Pupils at a Haslemere primary school voted overwhelmingly to remain in the European Union, last Thursday.
There was a 100 per cent turnout at Camelsdale Primary School as it held its own EU Referendum with all 220 children casting their vote.
The result was 180 Remain and 30 Leave. The campaigning was led by year five following a recent visit to the Houses of Parliament. The children researched and led an assembly explaining reasons to leave or remain in the EU as well as running a campaigning day.
Headteacher Sarah Palmer said: “Children need to learn about democracy and how countries run. National events like this provide us with good opportunity to talk about real-life issues with the children. Hopefully, our children will grow up and consider voting to be an important aspect of their lives and value the work of local councils and Parliament. The EU Referendum certainly made the children think and many had strong views on the matter.”
