GRATEFUL thanks from Haslemere’s Orchard Club at Haslewey Community Centre, were extended to all the generous Herald readers who donated Christmas boxes over the last month.
The Orchard Club hosted two Christmas lunches last week for elderly residents and every guest went home with a Christmas box.
“Volunteers had prepared the tables, which gleamed with shiny cutlery and sparkling glasses, and guests were served a sumptuous three-course festive treat by Mark
Montgomery our chef and his kitchen team,” club manager Hilary Owen said. “In addition to good food and wine our ladies and gentlemen enjoyed Christmas cracker jokes and carol singing before heading home, each carrying a wonderful gift from well-wishers of The Herald and Messenger newspapers.
“Everyone was overwhelmed by such generosity and the idea that a complete stranger should show such kindness, meant so much.
“Thank you everyone who participated in this wonderful act of generosity, it was truly made in the spirit of Christmas.”
