SGN entered ’phase five’ of its comprehensive overhaul of Farnham town centre’s gas network on Monday, July 20 – with lane closures between Hickleys Corner and Longbridge anticipated for around four weeks.

There will be a left-hand lane closure in place from the A31 for the duration of this phase.

No traffic will be able to access the town from the A31 via South Street, with no left turn into Union Road from South Street and no access along Longbridge Road heading south towards the bridge.

Access will be maintained via the open lane and signed diversions will be in place.

It is the fifth of eight anticipated phases; with works set to shift to between Longbridge and the Firgrove Hill/Saxon Croft junction from August 17, to Firgrove Hill between Saxon Croft and Trafalgar Court from September 7, and finally to Brightwell Road from September 21.

Elsewhere, temporary traffic lights are also expected to cause traffic delays opposite Ash House vets in Lower Farnham Road over the next week.

Work by Hampshire County Council to replace a damaged bollard is scheduled to take place between Friday (July 31) and next Tuesday (August 4).

Delays are also expected on the A325 in Guildford Road, with Southern Gas Networks digging up a section of the road near the Shepherd and Flock roundabout between August 3 and 10.

The replacement of a bus stop pole by Surrey County Council will see temporary traffic lights installed on Churt Road between Churt and Beacon Hill from August 3 to 4.

And temporary traffic lights are also scheduled in two locations along Frensham Road: at the junction with Pond Lane in Frensham from July 30 to August 1, and opposite the Victoria Reservoir at The Ridgway from August 4 to 6, both for works by South East Water.
