IT was the return of Tilford Village Fete on Saturday, but this year there was a pop-tastic twist.

Visitors were encouraged to dress up as their favourite music legend or group in support of this year’s theme ‘Pop Stars & Rock Idols’. It was a real hit at the raft race, where the fastest adult raft was ‘Thriller’ and for the children was ‘Arctic Monkeys’. Members of the committee and performers also danced and dressed up for the procession.

Despite the heat, there were live performances from All Saints C of E Infant School, Showshack Dance & Theatre School and Waverley Abbey C of E Junior School, as well as family games, challenges, a tug of war by B-Fit, a dog show, and a selection of stalls. PR5, a band from Weydon School, provided toe-tapping music in the afternoon.

A kid’s disco kicked off the evening, followed by Max and Friends whose performance entertained both children and adults alike. Band on the Rum turned Tilford green into a family fun time for all.

The committee would like to once again thank the fete sponsors, who they “can’t hold this event without”.
