REGISTRATION has now opened for the popular Hindhead Boxing Day run in aid of Holy Cross Hospital, at Shottermill, in Haslemere.

The 3.5-mile circuit over Hindhead Common, Gibbet Hill and the Devil’s Punch Bowl starts at 11am and features men’s and ladies runs, as well as the festive drinking run. A warming pint of winter ale greets competitors at the two-mile mark in the latter.

Race organiser Matt Dellar said: “After a sedentary Christmas Day, I think the Boxing Day run offers a welcome relief for many people. Last year, we saw over 500 people taking part and the atmosphere was fantastic.”

Funds raised will go towards a Holy Cross project to improve the way oxygen is delivered to patients that require oxygen therapy.

Boxing Day run organisers will have a stall at the Haslemere Christmas Market, on Sunday, December 6, where runners can register.

They also want to recruit around 20 volunteers to help with race duties. Registration can also be completed online at www.boxingdayrun.org.

It costs £10 to enter and £12 for the drinking run. The advice is to register now because there may only be a limited number of entries available on the day.
