THERE was so much loving support for last December’s inaugural ‘Football Funday’ in memory of Haslemere teenager Jaz Bush, her family and friends are holding a second charity event this weekend hoping it will raise even more.
The 16-year-old Woolmer Hill student, was battling depresion and anxiety when she was struck by a train outside Haslemere Station at around 4pm on August 24, last year.
She died at the scene.
As with last year’s event, which raised more than £10,500, proceeds from Sunday’s funday at Woolmer Hill Sports Ground will go towards the same two causes close to her heart – Young Minds and The National Autistic Society.
Matches kick off at 1pm with Suzie Songtime from 2pm, a raffle and auction from 5.30pm and live music from band St Paulo at 7pm followed by DJs until late.
Jaz’s mum Nicky said: “Unfortunately, we can’t change what happened to our family and the loss of Jaz is incomprehensible to us even now.
“But we can try and make a difference to other families so they do not experience what we have had to go through.
“Jaz found it hard to talk to people about how she felt.”
Everyone is welcome to attend. See the ‘Jaz Bush Memorial Football Facebook page for details.
