AN East Hampshire village got a good going over, when a group of residents including Grayshott Society members and parish councillors got together for a litter-pick.
Vice-chairman Phil Bates, said: “The society was pleased to organise a litter-pick again and to work alongside the parish council and others.
“It was a very successful morning with a great many bags of all sorts collected.
“Generally it was found the two main shopping streets were reasonably clear of litter, but there are problem areas which need to be looked at and sorted.
“Another downside is still the amount of cigarette butts that are thrown on pavements, or piled up outside some residential and business premises.
“I guess this is still not considered litter by many people, it appears, but it’s an ongoing eyesore for others.
“I would like to give a big thank-you to everyone for turning out and tackling the job in hand with much enthusiasm, which I know will be endorsed by residents and businesses alike.”
Other villagers have also been helping clean up the area. Volunteers litter picking along the Headley to Grayshott road equipped themselves with high vis jackets and bin bags from landscaping company Idverde (https://www.idverde.co.uk/), which is supporting the Keep Britain Tidy Spring Clean initiative.
They collected 12 black bin bags in a single session.
