SURREY Police have ccharged a 57-year-old man from Godalming with the murder of his mother.

Mary Steel, 79, who died following an incident at her home in Waverley Borough Council-owned Wey Court, on October 29.

Officers were called to the address at around 9.20am following reports of a concern for safety and found her with a serious injury.

She was treated at the scene by paramedics but was pronounced dead around 10.10am.

Her son Nicholas Anthony Steel, of Meadrow, was arrested on suspicion of murder and then admitted to hospital , before being transferred to police custody.
