WILLIAM ‘Spiderman’ Bremner who has completed hundreds of runs for charity, is undertaking his next half marathon in memory of Red Arrows pilot Jon Egging.

The 65 year old, from Fieldway, Haslemere, suffers from cerebral palsy but raises hundreds of pounds each year through charity challenges including 10k runs and marathons.

Last year he abseiled on the Spinaker Tower in Portsmouth dressed as Spiderman.

His next challenge is the Bournemouth Half Marathon this Sunday.

William has decided to run in aid of the Jon Egging Trust (JET), which was set up after the pilot lost his life on August 20, 2011, when completing a display at the Bournemouth Air Festival. He was coming to the end of his first year with the world-famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team The Red Arrows flying in the position of Red 4.

“Jon managed to steer his scarlet Hawk T1 away from the crowds and spectators but sadly Eggman lost his life,” said William.

“I have been a fan of the Red Arrows since 1976 and this run will be very upsetting for me but I will be running along thinking of Jon all the time.”

The Jon Egging Trust supports young people through learning programmes to develop life and work skills by providing access to inspirational role models and life-changing opportunities linked to aviation, engineering and science.

William is looking for sponsors and is asking for people to help by making cheques payable to the Jon Egging trust and posting them to him at 4 Aitken House, Fieldway, Haslemere GU27 2RD.
