TEAM Waverley took home nine medals at the 20th annual P&G Surrey Youth Games.
Overall the team came fourth out of 11 and secured Waverley’s highest points score since 2006.
There were 28 Waverley teams taking part in 15 different sports over two days on June 18 and 19.
As well as the impressive gold medal, Team Waverley also took home five silver medals and three bronze medals – Waverley’s largest medal haul in the past 10 years.
Team Waverley’s grand total score for the day was 84 points.
This year’s winners were Woking with 92 points.
There were 19 registrations from children attending schools in the area: nine from The Royal School, three from Woolmer Hill, two from St Bartholomew’s, two from St Edmunds, two from St Ives and one from Shottermill Junior.
Of these, 15 participants of these were selected for a team: eight from The Royal School, three from Woolmer Hill, one from St Bartholomew’s, one from St Edmunds, one from St Ives and one from Shottermill Junior.
Three participants won a medal for the area: two silver for High Five Netball and one silver for swimming.
A total of 191 young people represented Waverley and were able to take part in nine free training sessions run by qualified coaches before competing against the other 10 Surrey boroughs at the games.
The team’s gold medal was for the junior table tennis, the five silver medals in contact boxing, junior girls football, senior boys judo, High Five Netball and swimming and the three bronze medals in non-contact boxing, junior netball and girls rugby.
