HASLEMERE Town Council's precept will rise more than five per cent for the next financial year.

Members said the inccrease is needed to cover rising costs. The 2013/14 precept – a portion of the council tax bill it receives back from Waverley Borough Council – will be £238,168.

Last year it was £216,516. But a grant of £10,000 not used for parking measures in the town will be repaid.
