WAVERLEY Hoppa Community Transport is seeking a new chairman or chairwoman to navigate the business through the next leg of its journey.
Set up in 2002 to provide door-to-door community transport for residents in need, demand for the service is higher than ever.
Hoppa general manager Steve Forward said: “We know from the conversations we have with our passengers that Hoppa provides them with a lifeline.
“The service means they can be safely picked up from their home and taken to their chosen destination.
“Hoppa enables older residents to maintain their independence for far longer because we give them the means to visit the local town, attend routine medical appointments and enjoy leisure activities.
“The service provides people with social contact and helps to alleviate loneliness and isolation. After more than 12 years of invaluable service, our current chairman Andrew Carrington has stepped down and we are now looking for somebody new to join us.
“Experience of the transport sector is not necessary but enthusiasm, good communication and leadership skills are essential requirements. We would love to have somebody on board who can use their business skills to drive us forward, strengthen our partnerships with local authorities and funders and help us to achieve our ambitions.”
The position is voluntary and is likely to require a commitment of two to three hours per week.
The chairman will work closely with Hoppa’s general manager and the board of six trustees.
Anyone interested in the post should call Steve Forward on 01428 681710 or email [email protected]
