WAVERLEY Council has defended its record on domestic abuse after the Equality and Human Rights Commission named it among 100 local authorities to be threatened with legal action over their failure to provide specialised services.

A new report by the commission and End Violence Against Women listed Waverley among one in four local authorities in Britain that it said has no specialised support services at all for women who have experienced violence.
