Christmas trees can be recycled at the Haslemere War Memorial Recreation Ground car park from the end of this week.

Waverley Borough Council is inviting people to drop-off trees from Friday, December 29 – they will be turned into compost for shrub beds across the borough.

Subscribers to Waverley’s garden waste collection service can also put their real Christmas trees out with their other garden waste on the first collection after the festive holiday.

Unwanted synthetic Christmas trees can be taken to the Guildford Road community recycling centre.

The council is also reminding residents of changes to bin collection dates over the festive period.

Collections up to and including Friday, December 22, will run as normal, with changes beginning from Monday, December 25.

Normal collections will resume from Monday, January 8.
