ALDERSHOT & Farnham Ladies opened up a six-point lead at the top of Hampshire Division One after taking maximum points from their double-header weekend.

A&F also improved their goal difference column after scoring four against Havant 2nd XI on Saturday and six against Southampton University on Sunday.

HAVANT II 0, ALDERSHOT & F 4

HAVING survived an altercation with a bus, Aldershot & Farnham were ready for anything at Havant and all 14 players were raring to go.

Despite playing into the sun, they started with their usual high intensity. Havant defended attack after attack until, finally, Evie Kenna got on the end of a rebound to score the only goal of the first half.

A&F maintained the pressure in the second half and Hannah Sprake scored in the second phase after a penalty corner to make it 2-0.

But with most of their attacks coming to nothing, Aldershot & Farnham grew frustrated and their play became disjointed.

However, a brief break in the action enabled the visitors to regroup and refocus and short, sharp passing saw their game improve dramatically.

This led to another short corner and Mel Sutherland drag-flicked the ball inside the post for the third goal.

Some slick work in midfield from Louise Laws, Katrina Hellier and Millie Wakefield led to another penalty corner which was converted into the fourth goal by Sutherland after the ball broke loose to the top of the circle.

All in all, another convincing performance by A&F who voted Louise Laws as their player of the match.

ALDERSHOT & F 6, SOUTHAMPTON U 0

BOTTOM side Southampton University turned up late and A&F let this rattle them.

After a scrappy first 20 minutes, the first goal settled them. The first two goals were text-book stuff – runs down the wing and into the D before a great lay-off. Evie Kenna and Hannah Sprake slotted in the final passes from Katrina Hellier.

Not to be outdone, Hellier decided to go it alone and scored from a rebound off the keeper.

A&F dominated the second half, scoring a further three goals. Kenna got her second after an excellent advantage by the umpire. Di Taylor converted a short corner for the fifth and was then on hand to put away another rebound off the keeper following a neat pass by Kenna. Rosie Hudson was named player of the match.
