RUNNERS from Aldershot Farnham & District Athletic Club filled the podium after the intermediate boys’ race at the Surrey Schools Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Max Heyden won the race by four seconds from Luke van Oudtshoorn and Marcus Shantry was third.

The club had the gold and silver medallists in two other races at Reigate.

Niamh Brown became the senior girls’ champion ahead of Tilly Horton and Charlotte Borgars beat Hannah Woolley to the U13 title. Rudi Morrell was runner-up in the U13 boys’ event.

The Hampshire Schools Championships were held at Southampton and there were medals for Robbie Coupland (senior boys’ silver), Ryan Martin (junior boys’ silver), Maisie Grice (silver) and Lizzie Squibbs (bronze) in the senior girls’ competition and Alice Garner (junior girls’ bronze).

* The sixth and final race of the Southern Cross Country series will be hosted by Haslemere Border at Polecat Valley on February 26.
