TROJANS V 0, Alton II 2 (Hants Div 6). Alton Ladies 1st XI were denied action by the weather on Saturday, but the 2nd XI made the perfect start to the second half of the league season by beating third-placed Trojans.

Alton began confidently, despite the freezing weather. Eventually, the young forwards beat the slow Trojans defenders and left-winger Abigail Green got the final touch to put the visitors in front.

After the break, Alton dug deep to hold off Trojans, with some fine stick-work from Sophie Wallace and Natalie Milner. Pip Elphee did her bit with several athletic saves. Trojans were awarded a string of short corners, but still the Alton defence stood strong.

Alton then forced a short corner of their own and skipper Annie Carter’s straight strike sealed the points.
