Two members of the ATP Isle of Man martial arts team gained their black belts at a recent four-day seminar with a UK chief instructor at Abaniko Tres Puntas Arnis in Ramsey,

Following seven years of study, Jay Suico and Aris Canson were promoted to the black belt grade of Lakan Isa by Guro Anghel Eligado.

In doing so, they joined fellow black belts PJ Mallorca, Adele Newton, Cyril Ayen and Ean Radcliffe in attaining the grade.

The club is dedicated to the Filipino martial art of Arnis, which is a classical martial art using stick, blade and empty-handed techniques.

The club maintains close contact with the grandmaster of the system, GM Rene Tongson of the Philippines, and the Isle of Man is a member nation of an active community of ATP organisations worldwide.

The club will be starting new beginner courses in Ramsey, Peel and Douglas in the near future, and can be contacted through the ‘Abaniko Tres Puntas - Isle of Man’ Facebook page.
