TWO games in Division Seven were a great advertisement for the I’Anson Competitions.
At Broxhead, Grayshott IV bowled out Brook II for 111, with Billy Matlock taking 5-20 in seven overs. Matlock also starred with the bat, making a fine 39, but the visitors came up just five runs short, bowled out for 106, with Pathum Seranga taking 4-8 in eight overs.
At Milland, Grayswood IV dismissed Kingsley II for 117, Dan Wheatley (34) and Gary Neill (31) scoring over half the runs. Debutant John Allanson, playing with his grandson and son-in-law, took 3-24. A bucket-list item ticked off for the family as he flies home to Australia next week.
Grayswood looked in serious trouble at 45-5, but a 50 partnership between youngsters Will Locke and Will Nash took their side to the brink of victory before wickets began to tumble. With one run wanted from the last three balls, skipper Richard Rigden ran out son Henry off the penultimate delivery. Match tied!
