FRENSHAM Cricket Club’s long-running Invitation Sixes Tournament was again well-supported, with eight teams forming two groups, the top two from each going through to the semi-finals.
After some hard-fought group matches, Rowledge overcame Tongham B to reach the final.
In the other semi-final, a strong Frensham first team competed against a very competitive Frensham second string. Much to the delight of their support group, the ‘seconds’ overturned the form-book and made the final.
The final was again keenly contested and Rowledge only secured victory off the final ball, following a superb, nail-biting over bowled by young Sam Johnstone.
Rowledge’s winning side comprised Fraser Wilson, Angus Watson, Joel Swan, Jake Wish, Ollie Baker and Jack Powell.
For Frensham twos, Hamish Grundy scored 115 runs in five matches, remarkably without ever being out. Brother Seb Grundy also scored heavily, while Sam Johnstone earned the plaudits for his fine bowling. The reliable Charlie Robertson, James Frost and Ben Harrison made up the team.
The day was efficiently organised by Harvey Herrington and James Wood. The bar made good business, supported by a barbecue that was manned all day by Paul Bridger.
All in all, another excellent showpiece event for Frensham CC.
