SECOND-TEAM bowler Dan Scott produced a match-winning spell as Alton beat Liphook & Ripsley in a well-contested SPL T20 Cup second-round match on Sunday.
Joe Paul, another 2nd XI man, also impressed with 48 not out off 40 balls as Alton, put in by the Division One side, posted 149-4 in their 20 overs at the Jubilee Ground.
Scott Myers (67 off 49 balls) and Paul put on 106 as the Brewers accelerated after a slow start against Suman Ganguly who conceded just nine runs in his four overs.
Liphook openers Ganguly (29) and Giles Cover made fast start in reply and at 49 without loss, the visitors were in the driving seat. But Dan Scott bowled both openers and then dismissed Grant Rouse and Rob Nicklin as Liphook stumbled to 61-4.
George Neave tried to repair the damage with 35 not out, including two sixes, but Scott (4-19 in 4), and the economical Myers brothers kept the run-rate under control and Liphook fell 21 runs short on 128-7.
