FARNHAM failed to follow up their notable win over Banstead the previous week and slumped to a disappointing eight-wicket defeat at Beddington in the Surrey Championship Division One.
Put in to bat, Farnham got off to a bright start as Joel Walker dispatched some loose deliveries from ex-Leicestershire bowler Ryan Cummins, the score racing to 31 before Guy Hicks was caught in the slips.
Cummins then settled into a more controlled line and probed Farnham’s top order remorselessly.
Only Walker managed to get established as the visitors subsided to 53-4, with George Hellyer, last week’s hero, run out for nought by Kyle Moolman’ smart direct hit.
Jim Berry provided some support for the in-form Walker who continued to score fluently, reaching his 50 in style with a flick off his legs for four.
Berry was adjudged leg before to Seb Chmielinski after a stand of 47 and, two runs later, Walker was caught for a disciplined 63 off 138 balls.
Farnham were then 102-6 and although Matt Clarke attempted to marshall the middle order with a determined 18, wickets fell regularly and they were all out for 144 in 58.2 overs.
Cummins finished with 4-39 off 14 overs and Moolman put a complete stranglehold on the later batting with 4-31 from 18.2 overs.
Farnham’s opening seamers could make little impact and it was Mike O’Mahony who broke through at 24 when Parth Vyas offered a steepling catch to Osborne at long-on.
The dangerous Fawad Ahmad was joined by skipper Simon Lewis and the pair added a further 44 runs before Clarke dismissed Ahmad for 47.
Farnham could make no further inroads as Lewis batted with increasing freedom. He made 63 not out and an unbroken stand with Moolman saw Beddington ease home in the 33rd over.
Farnham are away to Walton-on-Thames this Saturday.
