INSPIRED by another epic Wimbledon Championship, Newman Collard Tennis Club in Liss are determined to bring awareness to the area of the great game of tennis which is available to all ages and abilities.

To that end, the club will be holding the Liss Tennis Festival at Newman Collard Playing Fields on Saturday September 2, from 1pm to 6pm.

The event will be supported by Bright Ideas for Tennis, part of the Keep Playing charity, where current and ex-Davis Cup professionals hold a selection of technical clinics and doubles tactics masterclasses for members of four local tennis clubs.

There will also be an exhibition match by the Davis Cup players.

Newman Collard relish the chance to bring Davis Cup men to the club to teach and show off their skills and hope people will flock to watch and support the festival.

There will be free on/off court activities, including fastest serve, short tennis, croquet and other games. Refreshments, barbecue, Pimms tent and the obligatory strawberries and cream will be available, plus a raffle, home produce and many tennis-themed stalls.

All funds raised will be used to provide free coaching for the club and community.
