THE final races in the national tournament in the Hansa class have been held at Frensham Pond – and it was a successful day for the home crews.
Thirty-one sailors with varying degrees of disability came from as far afield as Scotland to take part in this national event.
The day dawned with frost and a thick mist, but it turned into a sunny day with plenty of wind. Thanks to the efforts of the many volunteers, all the sailors were soon afloat for the four races involved. The racing was tight and competitive with boats changing places all the time.
At the end of the day the results showed successes for many of the Frensham Pond Sailability sailors, although Jessica Campbell, who had come from Scotland, took first prize in the Hansa 303 one-person class, with Frensham sailors Margaret Foreman and Dennis Hantman finishing second and third respectively.
In the other classes, the Hansa 2.3 class was represented by three Frensham Pond Sailability sailors, with home sailors coming second and third in both the Liberty and 303 two-person fleets.
The Ben Ainslie Trophy for the top team of the season was presented to Frensham Pond Sailability for their success throughout 2019. The sailors who contributed to this success included Lindsay Burns (2.3), Mike Everitt (303 one person) and Tessa Watkiss (Liberty).
