FARNHAM Golf Club got their year underway with the traditional captains’ drive-in ceremony on Sunday. The new captains are Mike Tiddy (club captain), Eddie Williams (junior captain) and Carolyn McCulloch (lady captain).

In his younger days, Mike played junior rugby and tennis for his native county of Cornwall and he is now a qualified coach in both rugby and tennis. His wife, Trish, is also a member at Farnham.

Carolyn McCulloch is serving her second term as lady captain and has also been ladies’ secretary twice and vice-captain twice. Her husband, Neil, is a fellow Farnham member and the McCullochs hope to see some promising young golfers emerging from amongst their ten grandchildren.

All three captains emerged through a guard of honour to perform the nerve-racking task of launching their opening drives down the fairway in front of an enthusiastic gathering of fellow members.
