HASLEMERE LADIES 3, YATELEY LADIES 1

HASLEMERE maintained their Hampshire Division One title challenge with another impressive team performance and a seventh victory in a row.

Mid-table Yateley held their own until midway through the first half when Haslemere took the lead from a short corner. The first shot was parried by the keeper, but Izzy Breen recycled the ball and passed to Hannah Enticknap who scored with a superb drag-flick.

Haslemere, however, let the pace drop, just as they had the previous week, and Yateley, with more possession, quickly equalised.

It remained 1-1 at the interval and although Haslemere began the second half with better passages of play, they struggled to find their usual smooth rhythm.

But the home side continued their high press and when they turned the ball over deep in the Yateley half, Donna Read pounced on a rebound off the keeper and ‘tennis-served’ the ball into the back of the net.

Yateley began to tire under continuous pressure and Alex Hardy showed excellent skills to score the third goal and wrap up the points for Haslemere.
