IN the early stages of the Aldershot League season, it seems likely that Division Four will be the closest, although some teams suffered heavy defeats last week.
Ash F chalked up their first win of the season, showing no mercy as they crushed their J team 9-1. Sheila Pretty and John Hutchinson both secured maximums and team-mate Brian Simpson claimed two.
Cody F also won for the first time, beating Fleet C 6-4. Alan Yeung was unbeaten for the losers, while John Asprey, Norrie Short and Vic King all won twice for Cody.
Crawley Ridge B beat Tennis J 9-1, thanks to trebles from David Marchant and Richard Hornby, with newcomer Philip Garrett winning twice.
Frimley E were also 9-1 winners, against Ash G. Steve Bridle and Dennis Smith were undefeated and Paul Phelan supported with a brace. Tennis H had Keith Johnson and Martin Evans unbeaten in their 7-3 win against Ash H.
Frimley A recorded their first win of the season in Division One, beating Tennis D 6-4. The Frimley pair of Nigel Oh and Tim Ngyou both won twice, while Michael Kwan took three for Tennis.
Central B beat Ash A 8-2, with Andy Appleby securing a maximum, well supported by Robin Pretty (2) and Martin Townshend (2).
Ash C continue to prosper in Division Two, their latest success being an 8-2 victory over Frimley B. Frank Winnard led the way with a full house and was ably supported by Nigel Tustin (2) and Karim Lawji (2).
Bentley B beat Tennis E 7-3, thanks to maximums from Robin Street and Paul Farrant. Frimley C and Cody A shared the points. Frimley’s Peter Farrelly won three and Cody’s father-and-son combination of Keith and Phil Russell took two apiece for Cody.
Crawley Ridge A opened their account in Division Three with a whitewash of Tennis G. Corin Moore, Russell Gibbs and Ken Thompson were the victorious trio. Peter Killick won three as Tennis F edged past Frimley D 6-4. Team-mate Graham McCulley claimed a pair, as did Gary Nicholson for Frimley.
Cody C just got the better of their E team, 6-4. Jock Docherty was unbeaten for the Cs and John Sheehy won twice for the E squad.
