TWO teams from Hart Swimming Club both successfully completed their ‘Channel Challenge’ charity swims on Sunday.
Held at the Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre, the three-strong teams had to cover a distance of 33.8 kilometres, the width of the English Channel.
The first swimmer from each team dived into the water at 7.15am and both completed the distance in a little over 8½ hours of continuous swimming, taking turns to swim 1km at a time, starting at the cardboard ‘cliffs of Dover’ and finishing in a ‘virtual’ France.
The two teams comprised: Reds – Stephanie Roberts (16), Maya Farmer (12) and Sarah Hiley (16); Blues – Josh Montgomery (19), Ben Walton (13) and Karen Roberts (22).
The Hart swimmers were raising money for two charities, Cancer Research UK and Cardiac Risk in the Young.
