Petersfield Rugby Club’s under-15s beat a well-drilled Alton team in a thrilling Hampshire County Cup final on Sunday.

Petersfield started the stronger team and raced into a 10-0 lead with a Wilson penalty and a try by the impressive Jordan.

Alton came back and relentless pressure resulted in two tries. Field then restored their lead with a penalty to lead 13-12 at the break.

Alton scored a try with an excellent run from their second row to take a four-point lead. Field came back and Moore’s crossfield kick landed perfectly for Banwell to score in the corner and nudge Field 18-17 in front.

Alton were awarded a penalty with six minutes to go and took a 20-18 lead. Petersfield attacked with vigour and with two minutes to go were rewarded with a penalty. Wilson coolly slotted the points to win the game 21-20 and seal the league and cup double.
