FARNBOROUGH Tennis G team are aiming for a treble in the Aldershot Table Tennis League.

They are already in the final of the Knockout Cup, semi-finals of the Handicap Cup and are now forging ahead in Division?Three.

Their latest success was an impressive 8-2 victory over Ash D, with Peter Bone and Martin Evans both claiming maximums.

Crawley Ridge B kept in touch with a 7-3 victory over Frimley D. Phil Garrett was unbeaten for the winners and Dave Skellern and Steve Bridle both won twice.

Ash E beat Tennis F 7-3 in one of those matches where everybody won and lost. The Ash trio of Margaret Thornton, Terry French and Dave Brown all won twice.

Cody D beat Fleet B, also by 7-3. Alan Richards was undefeated and Cody team-mate John Sheehy won two, as did Fleet’s Rob Brook.

There were some convincing scorelines in Division Four, with the top two sides both winning 9-1. Crawley Ridge C beat Ash F, with Richard Hornby and Mark Stephenson unbeaten and Yuriy Schulzhenko winning twice. And Ted Cornell and newcomer Kieran Daniel recorded trebles, backed up by Gary Smith’s brace, as Frimley F beat Tennis J.

Meanwhile, Braybrooke B went one better by whitewashing Cody F. Kenny Duarte, Malcolm Codd and Sandra Jackson did the damage.

In a much closer encounter, Tennis H lost 6-4 to Frimley E. Ramesh Vasudevamurthy secured a full house for Frimley and Charles Rhodes won twice. Michael Wolfe replied with two for Tennis.

Cody E and Ash G shared the points, with no player unbeaten. Bob Murrell and Ray Mears won two each for Ash, as did John Asprey and Dave Hewitt for Cody.

In a meeting of the bottom two teams in Division One, Ash B beat Tennis C 7-3. Daniel Koenigsberger won all three for Ash, with team-mates James Wyncoll and Paul Rumble contributing doubles.

Leaders Central A could only draw 5-5 with mid-table side Ash A. Paul Baker secured a maximum for Central, while Dave Phelps and Nick Mills won two apiece for Ash.

Tennis E secured a welcome win in Division Two, beating their D team 6-4. Peter Killick and Graham McCulley secured doubles for the Es and Pu Zhang took two for the Ds.

Braybrooke A dented Cody A’s promotion hopes with a 6-4 win. Yizhong Wei recorded another maximum, while Keith Russell won twice for Cody.

Nigel Tustin was unbeaten for Ash C who beat Frimley C 7-3. Frank Winnard supported with a double and Anthony Connelly won twice for Frimley.

Cody E and Crawley Ridge A produced yet another 6-6 draw in the Handicap Cup. Crawley dominated the singles, with Ken Thompson unbeaten and Russell Gibbs winning twice.

Malcolm Moran-Ellis won two singles for Cody who took all three doubles. But these were relatively tight, whereas Crawley won many of the singles by large scores. And so it was Crawley who progressed by 15 points.

In the other quarter-final, Cody C defeated Tennis C 7-5. Yet again, the doubles were critical, with Cody winning all three. Every player at least tied a singles, although Tennis player George Earle went away with the best individual record.
