HASLEMERE Town Council will have a full debate on a petition calling for a 20mph speed limit in the town centre after a letter was sent to Surrey's Waverley local area committee saying the town's planning and highways committee had "extreme reservations" about the restriction being introduced on Lower Street and High Street. The town council's planning and highways committee met ahead of the Surrey local area committee, due to be held today, when five out of seven councillors who attended voted to send the letter. The letter stated: "The town council planning and highways committee has extreme reservations on the implementation of a 20mph restriction on Lower Street and the High Street."
