IT may have been showery weekend last weekend, but it didn’t put a dampener on a host of fun events in and around Haslemere.
The fun started on Friday night when Grayshott Primary School Parent Teacher Association hosted its annual family football evening to raise funds for the new playground project.
Six teams of parents representing each class competed, with The Silver Strikers winning the trophy.
Back by popular demand on Saturday was Haslemere’s HillFest.
The first HillFest in 2017 was a big hit and this year’s show included sports activities, as well as live music by established and up and coming talents.
Mounted by the Friends of Woolmer Hill, and supported by Haslemere Fringe and Music Works, the festival is held in the school grounds and profits help fund improvements.
Also on Saturday was Witley village fair – a fundraiser for community groups that also raised £560 for The Fountain Centre.
Arena highlights included Huxley’s Birds of Prey, The Arden Holford School of Ballet, Chandler’s Got Talent and a fun dog show. Fair-goers could take part in a Noah’s Ark treasure hunt, re-home a teddy and guess the name of the monkey.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ Lockwood Equine Centre in Wormley, raised £2,400 at its One Fun Day event on Sunday.
On offer were stalls, cakes, face painting, a second-hand tack sale, and the chance to meet and greet some of the rescue ponies and donkeys at the centre.
