THE A3100 from the A3 junction at Milford to Sandy Lane,Guildford, is one of the 10 most improved roads in the UK, according to the Road Safety Foundation.
This week, the charity called on Government to spend an “immediate” £200million to tackle its “high risk” roads.
Each year, the Road Safety Foundation identifies “persistently higher risk” roads, which average at least one fatal or serious crash per mile along their length in the three-year survey period and have shown no improvement between 2010-12 and 2013-15.
Responding, a Department for Transport spokeswoman said in addition to the £175million it allocated last year it is also going to give local authorities “record” levels of funding to improve local roads and repair potholes.
She added: “It is vital councils spend this money to keep roads in good condition.”
Roads in the south of England included on the 10 most dangerous included:
The A254 junction with the A28 in Margate to the A255 junction near Ramsgate, in Kent.
The A32 in Gosport, Hampshire, from junction 10 at the M27 to the Delme Roundabout, and Quay Street roundabout to the Gosport ferry terminal
The A3055 junction with the A3054 in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight, to the A3054 junction in Ryde
The A21 junction with A2100 to the A259 junction at Hastings, in East Sussex.
The A4 junction with Huntercombe Spur to junction 5 of the M4 in Berkshire.
