WOOLMER Hill student Alfie Gates is living the dream as the youngest member of the 16-strong press pack at Leatherhead Football Club.
The 15 year old, who won the school’s Community Shield last year for his work with local non-league football teams, is now the Tanners’ youngest-ever press officer and working with heroes, such as former England international and club manager Jimmy Bullard – the ex-Hull City and Fulham midfielder.
Raising the club’s social media profile, Alfie set up Leatherhead Snapchat account and Instagram page.
He also increased the club’s Twitter followers by 65 per cent, its Facebook page likes by 120 per cent and set up Tanners TV, which averages 10,000 views per screening.
Alfie’s achievements have already been recognised, picking up the Ryman Premier League Show’s ‘Unsung Hero’ for his work as press officer, live on air. Alfie (pictured) said: “I was surprised and really proud to win it and want to thank all at Leatherhead for their support – especially director Duncan Evans and chairman Richard Brady.”
