AN impressive £9,000 was raised Haslemere’s Museum Valentine’s dinner-dance and auction in aid of its £1million

campaign to secure its long-term future.

Now a popular annual fixture, the black-tie event at The Georgian Hotel featured both a silent and a live auction.

Guest auctioneer John Nicholson, from John Nicholson’s Fine Art Auctioneers and Valuers in Fernhurst, brought his wealth of experience to get the best bids for a succession of glittering lots donated by museum supporters, ranging from a snazzy pair of Home Secretary Theresa May’s shoes, to a rare set of six 1915 Benjamin Britten posters.

Museum curator Julia Tanner said: “It was a lovely evening, a good excuse to get dressed up and everyone really enjoyed themselves. The museum is extremely grateful to all our sponsors and those who kindly donated items.

“I would also like to thank not only everyone involved in delivering such a fantastic event, but all those who turned up to support the museum.” Call (01428) 642112 to donate.
