The Save the Children children is £1,200 better off thanks to a fundraising drive at Fernhurst-based auctioneer’s John Nicholson’s, earlier this month.

The auctioneers donated proceeds from a general sale, while volunteers raised the rest through the sale of refreshments to those attending the auction.

Auctioneer John Nicholson told The Herald: “We had a great day, combining a really worthwhile sale with a really worthwhile cause.

“This was community spirit at its best and we want to thank all those who took part.”
