A care home in Haslemere still “requires improvement” overall Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspectors found.

The latest finding on Chestnut View follows a “requires improvement” rating by the CQC, in March last year, but inspectors reported following their latest visit the breaches had been addressed.

The home in Lion Green, which is owned by St Cloud Care, can accommodate up to 60 residents suffering from dementia or a physical disability. CQC found the service was “not consistently well-led”, because it was “not consistently safe”, nor was it consistently effective.

They found that although there were enough staff, the way they were being deployed impacted on the support some residents with dementia received. Staff also lacked detailed information about the emotional and psychological needs of people living with dementia.

They rated the care home service “good”, both for being caring and treating residents with kindness and compassion, and for being responsive to their needs with systems in place to support them in raising any concerns.

Chief operating officer John Cunningham, said: “St Cloud Care is delighted the recent report confirmed the service had met all of the previous requirements from their previous inspection. We are naturally disappointed this did not result in a change in the rating for the home.

“While the home is listed as requiring improvement, we would suggest this rating does not match the customer experience which is borne out by the many positive comments made to CQC within the report.

He claimed Chestnut View’s satisfaction rating of 9.6/10 from over 32 independent reviews from relatives and residents on carehome. co.uk backed those views.

“We are committed to continuous improvement and will take on board the recommendations made by CQC to help us improve further with the expectation of a substantially improved rating at our next inspection,”?he added.
