A DANCING dragon led a celebratory parade by the early years group at The Royal Junior School to mark Chinese New Year.
It is the Year of the Monkey in 2016, and pupils had spent a couple of weeks beforehand learning about Chinese New Year and preparing a special assembly.
On the day, Lacey Hall was decorated with colourful good luck banners and many children wore the monkey masks they had made.
Daycare pupils wore red for good luck, Nursery one re-enacted a typical Chinese family celebration seeing in the New Year, Nursery two shared interesting facts about Chinese New Year, and Reception children filled lucky red envelopes with money.
Nursery children then paraded their dancing dragon following a pearl of wisdom on a pole, through the audience and around the hall.
The assembly concluded with The Monkey and The Dragon song.
