He won the Ted Baker Cup for best in show as well as the Tony West Salver for the best exhibit in the daffodil classes.
Winning these awards for his perfect exhibits in the trumpet daffodil class was a special honour for Peter since he had been friends with both Ted Baker and Tony West.
Peter Rogers, who judged the show, was impressed with the high quality of the exhibits and commented that several entries in the daffodil classes were of national level standard.
Liphook’s Church Centre was a blaze of colour with numerous entries in the daffodil, tulip and camellia classes.
The most popular class was the ‘daffodils purchased at the autumn show and grown in a container,’ which attracted 20 entries and was won by Heather Bicknell who narrowly beat her daughter-in-law Kat Bicknell.
Judge Judith Patrick again awarded Helen Brown first prize in the photographic class entitled ‘Spring Fever.’ Of particular amusement was Ann Haussauer’s photograph of a spring and thermometer, displaying some thinking “outside the box”.
Cakes, coffee and tea were provided by chairman Lesley Hollands to the delight of all visitors.
