THE Alzheimer’s Society in Haslemere will launch a one-stop shop for people with dementia and their carers.
The charity will have a dementia navigator – a person who can help people with dementia and carers take control of their lives and make sense of what is happening – at its day centre in the town on every first Wednesday of the month from August onwards.
Carers and family members can speak to the dementia navigator while their loved one can enjoy one of the activities on offer at the Marjorie Gray Hall in Grayswood Road from 10am to noon on August 3.
Half an hour timed slots can be pre-booked by calling the charity.
Alzheimer’s Society services manager Joy Valcarcel said: “We’re hoping this new venture will enable people affected by dementia to get the advice and support they need, while getting a chance to sample one of the fun activities we run at the day centre.
“From baking to arts and crafts and music, we offer lots of different activities geared towards people with dementia. Carers can also visit our dementia navigators who offer vital information on benefits to how dementia progresses and the importance of getting your financial affairs in order.”
