AN African influenced artwork exhibition was created by all the children at Beacon Hill School inspired by the school’s links with Nyabondo school, in Kenya.

Each class was given a different project, including jewellery making, weaving, paintings of safari sunsets and portraits.

Parents were invited to view over two evenings and make donations if they wished.

Beacon Hill’s art co-ordinator Rachel Greenfield, who organised the exhibition, said: “We have all really enjoyed the experience of working together to create such an impressive display of our pupils’ artistic talents and having spent some time at our link school, I am especially delighted to know we can continue to support them, thanks to the generosity of our parents.

“Over the past few years, it has become a very important and valuable relationship to both schools, with teachers making the journey from Kenya to Hindhead and vice versa, to share their experiences, knowledge and teaching.

“Parents, staff and children have been eager to further support with fund raising for Nyabondo to enable the school to grow and to help provide some of the educational materials that we often take for granted, such as learning resources, display material and even toilets and classrooms.”
