Alton School’s Sixth Form students are celebrating their impressive A-level results.

Students were delighted to have their future plans confirmed and are looking ahead to the next stage of their educational journey.

Overall, 45 per cent of students achieved A*-A against a national average of 36.4 per cent – and 92 per cent gained A*to C.

High grades were awarded in subjects across the curriculum, including the sciences, humanities and arts, with particularly strong results in history, RS, Spanish and music.

Thirteen subjects had a 100 per cent pass rate of grades A*to C.

At Alton School, all students have the opportunity to complete an Extended Project Qualification.

As in previous years, the students’ work resulted in a 100 per cent A* to C pass rate and 25 per cent at A*

The majority of Alton’s students were accepted into their university of choice with more than 40 per cent heading to the top Russell Group universities.

These include courses to study dental surgery at Plymouth, architecture at Cardiff, English at Exeter and zoology at Southampton.

Two of their students have been at Alton School since Nursery, one of whom has secured a highly sought-after place to study early child development at the prestigious Norland College and the other to study physiotherapy at Kings College London.

Headmaster Karl Guest and director of Upper School Jackie Ward were delighted for these A-level students who overcame the many challenges along the way.

Mrs Ward said: “I’ve been watching these students develop and grow over the past two years and I am extremely proud of the confident, well-rounded young people they have become.

“As a group, they have been so supportive of each other and now they are totally ready to meet the challenges of university.”

Mr Guest said: “These have been such challenging years for our Year 13 students, many of whom are sitting public examinations for the very first time.

“I am immensely proud of what each and every one of them has achieved and know their futures will be bright and exciting.

“Thank you to the wonderful staff at Alton School who have worked so hard to prepare our students for these examinations and thank you to our parents for their support and encouragement.”
