A touch of Spain came to Haslemere as Camelsdale Primary School welcomed 30 visiting pupils for its long-running exchange.

Year 6 children and staff from Jueces de Castilla, Burgos, spent a week exploring the town, meeting the Deputy Mayoress at the Town Hall and visiting the museum and local shops.

The programme mixed classroom time with activities including forest school, African drumming and a day in London in fine spring sunshine. Fifteen local families hosted the group.

Headteacher Sarah Palmer said: “Our Spanish exchange is in its 22nd year now. Our link is strong and enables the children to practice their English and Spanish, experience another culture and develop friendships – often for a lifetime.

“Everyone leaves with great memories and Year 6 are looking forward to their return visit to Burgos in May. Thank you to everyone involved!”
