STUDENTS at King Edward’s School Witley are celebrating 100 per cent success in passing their International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
The Diploma programme – considered to be the global “gold standard” for school leavers – is followed by the majority of its 165 sixth formers.
Every student passed, with an average score of 34.5 points, well above the worldwide average for IB students of 30 points out of a possible 45 points.
In 56 per cent of individual subjects, grades achieved were 7 or 6 – the equivalent of A-level A* and A.
Successful candidates can now relax, safe in the knowledge they have gained entry to their chosen university.
Top scorer this year was King Edward’s head girl Gabriella Brantley, who scored 42 points and heads to University College London to read law.
Close behind were Shannon White from Guildford, and Bronnie Challinor from Wormley, both with 41 points.
Shannon is off to Cambridge to read geography, while Bronnie will read international business at Loughborough University.
The highest-scoring boys included head boy Jacob Trevor from Woking, who will read computer science and Laurin Lanz, who takes up a place at Southampton for computer science.
Headmaster John Attwater said: “I am delighted for our students. These results reflect their hard work and dedication and that of our teachers.
“We should not underestimate their organisation and commitment in studying six subjects to a high level alongside the other aspects of the Diploma.
“The IB’s reputation as a global-facing gold standard demonstrates our pupils are among the best in the world.”
