SCHOOL is out and Liphook is buzzing with Pokemon hunters on the trail of Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Pikachu, and many other characters.

Children and adults are travelling between the real and virtual world at hot spots such as the Millennium Centre, Old Thorns Country Hotel, Liphook Station and Radford Park.

Pokemon are out there, and they are determined to find them, walking around, their smartphone vibratating when there is a Pokemon nearby, taking aim and throwing a Poke Ball. The latest summer craze has taken over the village and turned it into a real-life adventure treasure trail hunt.

From Bohunt pupils to university students from Portsmouth as well as the Norman family, who came all the way from Vancouver – everyone is glued to their smartphones determined not to miss a Pokemon.

Canadian couple Chris and Gale Norman spent their honeymoon night at Old Thorns 15 years ago and were delighted to be able to play Pokemon Go with daughter Charlotte while on holiday in the UK.

Thirteen year olds Tom, Oscar Sam and Lucas, who all go to Bohunt, can’t think of anything better to do at the start of their summer holidays.

Twenty-year-old Jamie and Dan, from Milford, together with their friend Luke, from Portsmouth, have been roaming the area trying to catch, hatch, evolve and level up to complete their Pokedex, as well as taking on gym battles and defending their gym or Pokestops.

Pokemon Go has to be played outside and the craze has already taken over the village since it was launched at the beginning of July, with some 9.5million users across the UK, incluidng thousands in East Hampshire and south west Surrey.
